Ⅰ.はじめに

 Positron emission tomography(PET)の脳領域への応用としては,まず脳腫瘍や脳虚血の評価,てんかん病巣の同定など,疾患病態の直接的観察が挙げられるが,それと並行して脳の生理的機能評価にも用いられ,脳機能解明に画期的な進歩をもたらしてきた1)。耳鼻咽喉科領域でも,PETの脳機能画像へのさまざまな応用がみられるが,本稿ではそのうち,聴覚と言語,前庭感覚と空間識に焦点を当てて概括する。
