Ⅰ　はじめに

　流行性耳下腺炎はパラミクソウイルス科に属するムンプスウイルスによる感染症で，両側もしくは片側性の耳下腺部のびまん性腫脹，疼痛，発熱を主症状とする。小児期に好発し，3～6歳で約60％を占めている^1）。抗ウイルス剤などの特異的な治療法はなく，感染した場合は解熱鎮痛剤などによる対症療法が中心となり，弱毒生ワクチンによる予防が重要である。ムンプスワクチンの歴史と現況，副反応，必要性について概説する。
