POINT

●加齢に伴い，嗅覚は検知域値，認知域値，弁別能，同定能のいずれも低下するが，認知機能低下を伴う症例では，検知域値に比して認知域値，弁別能，同定能が悪い場合が多い。

●味覚も加齢に伴って低下するが，嗅覚よりもその影響は少ない。

●女性は嗅覚・味覚のどちらも男性より鋭敏である。

●嗅覚低下の有無は，アルツハイマー型認知症などの神経変性疾患を鑑別するのに有効である。
