POINT
●小児閉塞性睡眠時無呼吸症(OSA)の病態は年齢層,扁桃組織の肥大,鼻炎の状態などにより異なるため,適切な診断と治療選択が求められる。
●小児OSAの治療戦略の根幹は,口呼吸習慣の是正と鼻呼吸の獲得・維持で,小児期の誤った呼吸様式は,口腔機能の低下や顎顔面形態の劣成長を引き起こす。
●小児OSA児の口腔機能は低下していることが多く,その補完的治療として口腔筋機能訓練が着目されている。
