変形性膝関節症の外来理学療法と運動機能回復

はじめに

　変形性膝関節症（以下，膝OA）は，健康寿命を短縮させる重大な生活習慣病である．東京大学22世紀医療センターによるResearch on Osteoarthritis Against Disability（ROAD）プロジェクトにおけるコホート研究では，本邦の膝OA推定有病者は，無症候性で2,400万人，症状を有する者に限定しても約800万人と推計され，高齢者において非常に高い有病率であることが明らかとなっている^1）．

　これら膝OAの初期治療は，運動療法を中心とした保存療法が主体であり，多くは外来理学療法の対象であると考えられる．本稿では，膝OAに対する運動療法の効果を確認したうえで，外来理学療法の評価や指導のポイントを述べる．
