認知症と理学療法

理学療法士（以下，PT）にとって認知症は，リハビリテーション（以下，リハ）の進行を遅らせる阻害因子と捉えられてきた．その後，超高齢化社会を迎え，介護保険施設の利用者の9割が認知症を抱えると言われる現在，認知症を合併していても効果的な理学療法の提供が求められるようになり，さらには2006年より認知症短期集中リハ実施加算が創設されるなど，理学療法による認知症の治療が始まっている．今回，①認知症に対する運動の効果を再考し，②認知症高齢者に対する効果的な理学療法の提供方法を提示する．そして③日本理学療法士協会が行った認知症高齢者の生活実態調査結果に基づき，認知症高齢者に理学療法を実施する上での要点を述べる．
