慢性疼痛への理学療法―筋機能

はじめに

　慢性疼痛患者の多くは筋機能障害を伴い，それによる活動やquality of life（QOL）の低下を来している．近年，社会的経済損失として世界的に問題となっていることから，世界保健機関（WHO）は2000～2010年を「運動器の10年（Bone and Joint Decade：BJD）」と定めて疫学・予防・治療研究推進と啓発に取り組んでおり，今後も継続の必要があることからBJD活動が続けられている．

　慢性疼痛の大部分を占める運動器慢性疼痛を訴える患者は，様々な症状・複雑な病態を呈しており，身体的な側面だけでなく，精神医学的，心理社会的側面での問題を持ち合わせている^1）．そのため，このような運動器慢性疼痛患者に対峙していく際に，様々な診療科が協力する集学的アプローチの必要性が指摘されてきている．

　このような背景から，集学的アプローチにおいて主に身体的側面からのアプローチを担う理学療法は非常に重要な役割となる．本稿では，慢性疼痛への理学療法において，特に筋機能障害に注目して概説する．
