物理療法における研究活動の課題と方略

はじめに

　物理療法は一部の疾患の治療として使用される場合もあるが，大部分はimpairmentレベルに対する治療である．米国理学療法士協会（American Physical Therapy Association：APTA）でも，理学療法分野で物理療法が使用される場合には，単独で使用するのではなく，運動療法などの他の治療と組み合わせるべきであると報告している^1）．APTAでは，物理療法を電気治療的物理療法（electrotherapeutic modalities），狭義の物理療法（physical agents），力学的物理療法（mechanical modalities）の3分野に分類している^1）．力学的物理療法には起立台でのトレーニング，continuous passive motionなども包含しているが，本稿ではこれらを取り扱わないこととし，これら以外の最近の物理療法研究結果，課題，研究の進め方などについて書面の許す限り論述する．
