はじめに

 高齢者における手段的日常生活活動(instrumental activities of daily living:IADL)の制限,特に外出頻度減少や行動範囲縮小といった屋外活動の制限はQOL低下を招く.また,IADLのなかで,買い物や公共交通機関を利用しての外出といった屋外活動は理学療法領域において目標とすることが多い.そこで本稿では屋外活動に焦点を当てて,屋外活動と身体機能,精神・心理機能との関連性やIADLの充実をめざした介入方法について,先行研究を紹介しながら解説する.
