O脚は変形性膝関節症になりやすいか？

　変形性膝関節症（knee osteoarthritis：膝OA）は，40歳以上の中高齢者の発症頻度がきわめて高く，X線画像で診断できる本邦での有病者数は約2530万人と推定されている^1）．膝OAは年齢，性別，遺伝的特徴，ほかの系統因子などの素因と損傷，過負荷，不安定性などの力学的要因が関与して発症し，進行する多因子性疾患である^2）．

　膝OA患者の身体アライメントに関して，本邦では内側型膝OA患者の罹患率が高いため内反膝変形を呈することが多く，立位時の異常姿勢（マルアライメント）として腰椎前彎の減少，骨盤後傾，股関節屈曲位，膝関節屈曲位・内反位などがある．骨盤後傾位の姿勢では，膝関節は内反しやすく膝関節内側の荷重圧が高まり^3），さらに膝関節屈曲位では大腿膝蓋関節痛に影響することより^4），身体アライメントの異常は膝OAの進行に影響する危険因子である．
