PFC-FD^TMによる治療の概要

　変形性膝関節症（knee osteoarthritis：KOA）は，日本を含め世界中で一般的な関節疾患であり，高齢者を中心に多くの人々がその影響を受けている．日本国内においても，KOA患者はとても多く認められ，1000万人を超えると言われている．この疾患は関節軟骨の変性や損傷に伴って関節の痛み，腫れ，運動制限などを引き起こすため，生活の質が低下する可能性がある．そのため，KOAは国民病として認識され，治療やケアの重要性が強調されてきている．

　近年，KOAの治療の選択肢の一つとして，多血小板血漿（platelet-rich plasma：PRP）療法が挙げられるようになってきた．この治療は，本邦において，保険診療での保存加療（消炎鎮痛剤の内服やヒアルロン酸関節内注入など）と，手術加療（関節鏡手術や骨切り術や人工膝関節置換術）の中間に位置する，biologic healingと考えられる自由診療（保険適応外治療）である．一般にPRP療法は，KOAなどの関節障害に対する比較的新しい治療法であると認識されている．
