はじめに

　認知症の原因疾患として最も多いのが，原因不明の神経変性疾患であるアルツハイマー病（Alzheimer disease：AD）である。本稿では，認知症とADの有病率および発症率について，最近10年の疫学研究の傾向を述べ，代表的な海外および日本の報告を紹介する。
