文献概要

　ウィルソン（Samuel Alexander Kinnier Wilson；1878-1937）は，1878年12月6日に米国，ニュージャージー州のシダーヴィルに生まれた。父は英国人の古代アッシリア研究者で，ウィルソンが生まれてわずか1年後に死去し，そのため家族は英国のエジンバラへ移住することになった。

　1902年にウィルソンはエジンバラ大学をMBの学位を得て卒業し，1年後には生理学のBScを得た。その後，パリに行きマリー（Pierre Marie；1853-1940）とバビンスキー（Joseph Babinski；1857-1932）に師事した。1905年にロンドンに移り，クイーンスクエア（The National Hospital for Diseases of the Nervous System including Paralysis and Epilepsy：略称　Queen Square）に医局員兼病理学者として勤務した。彼はのちにKing's College Hospitalの神経学教授に任命された¹⁾［クイーンスクエアは，1948年にMaida Vale Hospital for Nervous Diseasesと合併し，現在のthe National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery（NHNN）になった］。
