はじめに

桑原　1916年にギラン（Georges Guillain；1876-1960）とバレー（Jean Alexandre Barré；1880-1967）がギラン・バレー症候群の原著を報告してから今年が100年目，来年100周年を迎えます。

　ギラン・バレー症候群の原著症例は脱髄型で，その後，軸索型という新しい病型が認知されて，現在，脱髄型・軸索型の2大病型があるということになっています。特に日本では軸索型の病態や自己抗体の解明が非常に進んで，世界をリードしてきた業績があります。

　本日はこの100年の中でも特に1980年代以降に焦点を絞って，軸索型や抗ガングリオシド抗体の発見がなされた頃から現在までのお話を伺いたいと思います。
