ブロードマン領野12野は，11野とともに，前頭眼窩野に属する。前頭側頭葉変性症の味覚障害は，12/47野（両側）と関連するというVBM（voxel-based morphometry）データがある。またわれわれの検討では，パーキンソン病の意思決定機能障害とVBMでの萎縮部位（両側）が相関し，社会的認知機能とも関連することが明らかであった。さらに，時間順序の認識など時間認知機能との関連が指摘でき，この後さらに研究が進む可能性がある。
