「主訴に沿う—俯瞰し収束する画像診断の目」と題し，「①ふるえる」「②頭が痛い」「③二重に見える」「④人が見える」「⑤お腹が痛い」の5項目にわたり，現在の画像診断技術を駆使することによって，どこまで「主訴」の背景にある病態に迫れるか，を特集した。この総論では，各論を読むことで立ちのぼってくる著者らの真摯な日常を読者諸氏にお伝えし，「画像所見にできるだけ沿い，患者さんの困っていることに近づきたい」画像診断医の思いを伝えたいと考える。
