文脈の効果は言語に限らず視覚でも生じると考えられるが,関与する脳領域は不明である。本研究では,サイレントマンガを用いて視覚刺激のみで誘起される心的状態に着目した。見開きの状態で文脈を保ちながら読む際に両側の視覚野と小脳で有意な活動が見られ,文脈を損なうページの単独提示との直接比較では,活動部位が半側空間無視の責任病巣とほぼ一致した。以上の結果は,高次視覚情報処理が文脈によって促進されることを示唆する。
