多系統萎縮症（multiple system atrophy：MSA）の新しい診断基準が作成された。この診断基準は臨床試験への患者登録の向上につながる病初期の診断精度の向上を目標としている。その特徴は，診断の確実性を4つのレベルに分けて定義したことである。本論は本診断基準において，これまで使用してきたGilman分類第2次コンセンサス基準との相違点を説明するとともに，使用するうえでの注意点を示したい。
