　耳朶の皺（earlobe crease）は、耳珠（tragus）から耳朶の最下部を結ぶ対角線上に生じ（図1^1））、「diagonal earlobe crease（DELC）」とも称される。米国の呼吸器内科医Sanders T. Frank（1938〜1997）（表1^2,3））が1973年に、本所見と「心血管系疾患」のリスク因子との関連を示唆する報告^3）を行ったことから、Frank徴候とも呼ばれる。
