診断エラー（diagnostic error）は近年、患者安全領域において話題となっており、日本でも幅広い啓蒙活動が行われるようになった。本特集は、診断エラーの最近のトピックスの1つである「situativity（状況性）」を意識して企画した。
　われわれの知識・思考・学習は経験の中に位置づけられると主張する理論的枠組みを「状況性理論（situativity theory）」^1）という。この理論では、「文脈（コンテクスト）」が最も重要であるとされ、知識・思考・学習は文脈から分離できない（文脈に依存する）と主張されている。
