　2019年末に発生したCOVID-19（新型コロナウイルス感染症）との約3年にわたる闘いは、“ミクロな視点”と“マクロな視点”両面からの対応を迫られるものだった。ミクロな視点では、「呼吸生理学」に改めて着目することで霧が少しずつ晴れるような経験をした。マクロな視点では、普段あまり意識することのない「医療資源が枯渇した場合」における対応が課題として浮き彫りとなった。
