タウ蛋白蓄積＝タウオパチー

　タウオパチーとして最も頻度の高いのはアルツハイマー病で，βアミロイド沈着に続きタウオパチーが生じ，神経細胞死と関連するという，アミロイドカスケーディング仮説が有力である．一方，1997年，タウ蛋白遺伝子異常によりタウオパチーが生じ，神経変性の一義的原因となりうることが明らかとなった．タウオパチーは，特殊鍍銀染色や免疫染色を施さないと評価が難しい．高齢者では，タウオパチーの頻度が高くなり，臨床病理学的に重要であるので，われわれは，嗜銀顆粒性疾患，神経原線維変化優位型疾患，進行性核上性麻痺，皮質基底核変性症を特に高齢者タウオパチーと総称している．〔臨床検査　50：1121-1129，2006〕
