オートファジーによる殺菌

1．はじめに

　自食作用(オートファジー)は，本来は，われわれのすべての体細胞が恒常性(ホメオスターシス)を維持するために働く機能の1つである．オートファジーの異常は，癌や神経変成疾患，発生や加齢などといった種々の病態にも密接に関与している．ところが，このオートファジーが，感染防御にも重要な働きを行っていることが明らかとなってきた．生体内に取り込まれた細菌などの異物の分解は，マクロファージや好中球といった貪食細胞による貪食(ファゴサイトーシス)作用によって細胞内に食胞として取り込まれた異物を分解するが，オートファジーでは細胞質内にまで入り込んだ異物の除去システムとして機能していた．本稿では，このオートファジーによる殺菌メカニズムについて概説する．
