骨粗鬆症の治療と予防―整形外科の立場から

　骨粗鬆症の骨折は強度の低下した骨に，転倒などによる外力が作用して生じる．最近，転倒頻度の高い高齢者では，バランス訓練により転倒頻度を減少させることができるという報告が増加しつつあり，太極拳では2～3か月で筋力が増加し，4か月以降では転倒頻度を40%程度低下する傾向が見られている．整形外科を受診する高齢の骨粗鬆症例では，薬物治療とともに転倒頻度低下をめざした運動療法による介入も必要である．
