　アルツハイマー病(AD)の早期診断にはMRI，PET，SPECTなどの画像診断や脳脊髄液のバイオマーカーが有用なことが示されている．脳脊髄液amyloid β protein(Aβ)42の低下，タウおよびリン酸化タウの上昇がADの診断およびADの発症予測に有用であることが確立された．特にタウとAβ42の組み合わせは有用である．Aβの小さな凝集体(Aβ oligomer)がADに特異的なマーカーとして注目されている．最近は脳アミロイド画像との比較検討から，軽度認知障害からADへの移行だけでなく，認知機能の全く正常な人からの発症前診断が可能になってきている．
