電子顕微鏡所見によるアプローチ

　上皮型悪性中皮腫の電子顕微鏡所見として，細長く不規則な微絨毛の存在が特徴的に認められる．また，分泌顆粒などの腺癌に特徴的な所見がみられないことが，鑑別点として重要である．肉腫型中皮腫においては，デスモゾームやトノフィラメントなどの上皮様の所見が，わずかにみられることが，他の肉腫との鑑別点となる．胸水や腹水のセルブロックの電顕的観察は，検体の採取が生検より容易で，良好な像を得ることができ，有用である．
