透析アミロイドーシス病因，病態診断，治療，予防

1980～1985年，長期透析を受けている患者において，透析アミロイドーシスは深刻な頻度が高い合併症となった．1985年，筆者らはこのアミロイド線維を構成している蛋白をβ₂-microglobulin(β₂-m)であることを生化学的に同定した．血清β₂-mはアミロイド線維の前駆蛋白と考えられるので，透析アミロイドーシスに対する治療戦略として，血清β₂-mを積極的に除去することが試みられてきた．近年，高性能膜ダイアライザーによる透析治療あるいはβ₂-m吸着カラムによるβ₂-mの除去治療が一定の臨床効果を得ている．しかしながら，根本的治療は今後，確立される必要がある．
