プロバイオティクスと腸内細菌叢

腸内細菌叢は宿主と共生し，エネルギー産生，物質代謝の調節，感染症防御，免疫活性化，発癌への関与など様々な作用を有する．プロバイオティクスは生体内，特に腸管内の正常細菌叢に作用し，そのバランスを改善することにより生体に利益をもたらす生きた微生物であり，その腸管感染症への応用が報告されている．抗菌薬関連下痢症，ロタウイルス感染症，旅行者下痢症などには臨床研究を含めその有効性が報告されている．そのほか，コレラ菌，赤痢菌，サルモネラ，病原性大腸菌，カンピロバクターなどについても動物実験レベルでの効果が知られている．エビデンスを基にしたプロバイオティクスの評価が期待される．
