●糖尿病は,脳梗塞の各病型(アテローム血栓性脳梗塞,ラクナ梗塞,心原性脳塞栓症)の罹患率を上昇させる,脳梗塞の独立したリスク因子である.

●頸動脈超音波検査は,頸動脈壁の肥厚や狭窄の定量的評価が可能であり,動脈硬化性疾患の発症リスクの評価や頸動脈狭窄の外科治療での適応の判断に利用される.
